About me...

My research revolves around understanding how young primates grow up and learn to navigate their worlds. As an evolutionary anthropologist, I use my work as a lens to better understand our evolutionary history. Since finishing my PhD, I've worked with Dr. Zarin Machanda, Dr. Alex Rosati, and the Kibale Chimpanzee Project to bridge behavioral and cognitive research to apply chimpanzees as a model species for understanding the origins of human-like leadership. Currently, I'm a Lecturer in the Department of Human Evolutionary Biology at Harvard where I joined the Pan Lab to compare chimpanzee developmental patterns with their closest cousins, bonobos. In addition to my research on great ape development, I also direct the Nature's Valley Baboon Project where we apply our observations about wild baboon behavior to inform local conservation plans from forest restoration to wildlife management.
This website is about my ongoing research, public outreach, and a few travel adventures for good measure.
